Steffans Legal Files Class Action on Behalf of Convenience Store Employees for Unpaid Wages
Today, Steffans Legal filed a statewide class action in the Hampden County Superior Court against Pride convenience stores. We are partnering with Connor & Morneau on this matter. We’ve brought this claim on behalf of all hourly employees who worked at Pride locations in Massachusetts.
In Levy v. Pride Stores LLC et al., we’ve alleged that the employer failed to pay wages to their employees for all hours worked. Specifically, we believe that Pride Stores required its employees to work off the clock for at least 20 minutes per shift. During that time, these employees were required to standby while the employee they were replacing counted the money in the cash register. These employees were not paid for this time.
State and federal law require employers to compensate employees for all hours worked. In this instance, we believe Pride violated this requirement by requiring employees to work for at least 20 minutes per shift without compensation.
If you work in Massachusetts and are required to perform work off-the-clock you may be owed compensation for that time. Employment attorney Benjamin Steffans has represented numerous clients in unpaid wage and overtime claims for off-the-clock work including working through unpaid meal breaks, pre-shift and post-shift work, and work-related travel time.
