Steffans Legal Secures Class Certification in Overtime Case

In 2021, Steffans Legal filed a wage and hour class action against Hannaford grocery stores, partnering with Fair Work P.C., arguing that Hannaford violated the Massachusetts Overtime Act (M.G.L. ch. 151 s 1A) by not paying overtime premiums to its Massachusetts-based department managers.

On February 3, 2023, Judge William Young of the Massachusetts federal district court granted our motion for class certification and ordered that the case should proceed on a class-wide basis. This is a significant victory as it allows us to seek to recover damages for all Massachusetts-based department mangers that worked overtime during the period at issue.
